latchkey kid I was a latchkey kid growing up. My mom was working and going to school. So I was home alone for at least an hour or two in the afternoon. And I loved it. Almost immediately after school I would head to the neighborhood convenience store. I'd buy candy and snack cakes, then eagerly head home to watch afternoon cartoons. I had a routine....

America's Team. Really?America's Team. Really? When I was growing up Baltimore didn't have a football team. Most would assume that I would look down the road to DC for a team to cheer for, but no. I looked all over the league and decided to become a Cowboys fan. (I was 12 and thought Troy Aikman was cute.) I dropped my Dallas Star for a Baltimore Raven in '96. But there's still a soft...

Not the Mama! It's not that I'm anti-baby. I'm just anti-me-having-a-baby. I remember when I was younger I would play with my cabbage patch doll Kristie Mae or Kelly Ann or whatever the heck her name was. I would dress her up in little outfits and do her hair. I had a stroller to cart her around in and we even had matching rain slickers. It was fun for...

Jay’s been out of town and I kinda feel like Macauley Culkin in Home Alone. After sitting on my arse for two straight days, I now have only a couple of hours to get the apartment cleaned before he gets home. The perfect time to write a blog post.

My new hobby has taken up a lot of time…and money. But I love it. I never thought I’d get excited over fabric and zippers. It’s definitely helped relieve some stress.

The hubby on the other hand fears that I’ve getting carried away. He may be right. At one point I was making a new bag every night. Even making bags to match that night’s outfit. I guess it safe to say man overboard.

Meanwhile Jay has gotten, in my opinion, carried away with the presidential election that’s a year away. I don’t see the point in getting all worked up over the election this far from it. Who know’s how many candidates are going to  wither away between now and then. Not to mention all the possible scandals that are destined to pop up. But my politically minded husband doesn’t seem to agree.

When we started dating I had no clue how into politics he was. It wasn’t until we started living together that I discovered it. His days are consumed with MSNBC, Fox News, and Glenn Beck. Which is in stark contrast to my TLC, Bravo, and VH1. My version of news is watching TMZ  and E! News.

Despite my lack of interest in all things political my hubby has not given up on educating me. My weekends are full with lessons on our current economical situation and world events. Jay has the most organized rants I’ve have witnessed. His impromptu lectures are complete with statistics and video clips. I wouldn’t be suprised if one day he just whipped out pie and bar charts Ross Perot style.

But this past week was the worse. Nearly two hours on “Why You should Vote for Ron Paul”, complete with YouTube presentation. The speech ended with Jay signing us up to host a Ron Paul house party. Something tells me that Kid N Play won’t be attending.

It think it’s Jay’s constant political rants that have driven me to the sewing machine. It’s perfect for drowning him out. So if I have gone overboard. We know who’s really to blame.
